DELIVERABLE Immigration language test

As part of the application for your Canadian Work Visa & Permanent Residency, you and your team members will be required to take a language test.

What are the language tests?

As part of your application, you must include the original results of a language test from a testing agency designated by IRCC with your application.

There are two types of English proficiency tests that are eligible:

1. CELPIP: Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program

2. IELTS: International English Language Testing System

If you have already done these tests, please make sure that the test results are still valid as the IRCC will not accept any results older than two years old at the time you submit your application.

Please note that you can also take these tests in French if you are more comfortable with this language than English. You can find more information about the French tests here: Language testing.

What is assessed in the language tests?

In these tests, you will be required to have a language proficiency of at least benchmark level 5 in either English or French for all four language skill areas.

These assessed areas of language skills include:

  1. Listening

  2. Speaking

  3. Reading

  4. Writing

You can find more information here.
