Generate AI Transcript and Summary Uncover Your Passion
To many when the subject of passion comes up they are frozen. After all, passion is not something that we focus on in school, as we grow up, or in our everyday conversations.
But why is passion so important?
For everything you do, you need drive and passion.
But with turning an idea into a startup and then building and growing a successful business, you need a mother-load of passion!
Remember, in everything you do you are climbing Mount Everest.
In everything you do you are almost always going to be facing many difficulties and challenges ranging from:
The simple that you kind of know how to deal with or can figure out
The difficult that takes lot’s of time and energy
And the insurmountable, challenges that are just soul crushing.
And when it comes to entrepreneurship building something out of nothing, it will seem that everything is of the 3rd kind, the insurmountable soul crushing kind!
So when you are launching a startup, you are climbing the Everest of Everests!
You may not see this right now, and may dismiss it and not believe it, which is natural.
Entrepreneurial naiveté is crucial to get you started, because if you know what’s coming your way, you wouldn’t in a million years launch a startup :)
That’s why passion matters.
Because when it feels like the whole fucking world is on your shoulder, when it feels like nothing is moving no matter how hard you push, and when it feels the past 12 months of work were for nothing, passion can keep you going.
Passion can get you out of bed, keep you moving forward, get you through the day.
Passion can make you believe you can make it even with everything around you telling you “just give up already”
Ok, so if we agree that passion is important, how do you uncover your passion?
How do you know it’s not just a fleeting desire?
And how do you deepen it?
In the previous session we broke down the core questions of the golden circle framework into a group of connected very powerful questions.
These are excellent as a starting point.
It’s time to go deeper.
Uncovering your passion is surprisingly simple!
All you have to do is let your actions tell you.
You see, uncovering your passion is not an intellectual argumentative exercise.
Instead is an observational fact finding mission.
Your actions speak louder than your thoughts and your words. What do you spend your time doing? why do you do these things? and what do they say about you?
List all the things that you do repeatedly, week in, week out.
Select the ones where you work the hardest, do your very best, and give it your all, then answer the questions:
Why do you do these things? (list all the reasons)
What do these things say about you? (your view of yourself)
List the things you do where you work the hardest, do your very best, and give it your all
List all the reasons why you do these things
What do these things say about you?

Time to go even deeper
What is the cause you really serve?
Yes we all want to make money, a lot of it. But money by itself is meaningless. It’s what we want to do with it that makes it worth pursuing.
What is it that you are after? What fulfills you? What would you do with all the money that you have if you had all the money and time in the world?
Get curious why, and what
List the causes you serve and would give all the time and money that you have
List all the reasons why you serve these causes
What do these causes say about you?
“People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost.”
Dalai Lama
The highest spiritual leader of Tibet
Time to be thrown in the deep end!
What keeps you up at night?
Fear is a natural, powerful, and primitive human emotion.
It involves a universal biochemical response as well as a high individual emotional response.
Fear alerts us to the presence of danger or the threat of harm, whether that danger is physical or psychological.
So what keeps you up at night, what are you really afraid of?
This may get emotional and uncomfortable, but it’s important work that you must undertake to peel more layers and uncover you passion.
List the fears that keep you up at night
List all the reasons why they keep you up at night
What do these fears say about you?
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be
brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
