So how do you put Simon Sinek’s golden circle to work?
How do you start with ‘Why,’ figure out the ‘How,’ seek and achieve the ‘What’ you really want?
While to some these core questions may seem simple enough and easy to answer, to many they are not. Sometimes we can spend a whole lifetime to find our why.
But why wait?
You have an idea and you want to move forward. So to use this powerful model, here is a suggested approach that will help you get started and move forward, as you continue to uncover your why.
You see, your why is not one thing, it’s a combination of many things wrapped into each other like an onion that you keep peeling layer after layer. With each layer you get deeper and deeper into your why.
To start this journey of discovery as you move forward and take action on your ideas and the things you desire most in life, we found that it’s best to break down these core questions into a group of connected very powerful questions.
With every new answer you are closer to the core.
For the why, start with why you? What’s your purpose? What are you after? What are you passionate about? And why are you building a business? What is the impact you want to create in the world?
For the how, map your strategy? How will you get there? Who are the people you want to work with? What are the values you adhere to, the beliefs that govern your work? What is the culture you will create and the frameworks you will use?
Finally, for the what, choose the vision you want to make a reality? The startup success and growth you want to achieve? In which market? In which industry?
And remember to connect to the individual success and growth that you want to achieve for yourself as well?
Many times people focus too much on the business success and they forget to connect it to something personal, and that leads to losing that connection and maybe losing passion for the work they do in the future when things get tough,
As Stephen R. Covey says
“To begin with the end in mind means to start with a clear understanding of your destination.
It means to know where you’re going so that you better understand where you are now and so that the steps you take are always in the right direction.”
